In keeping with our mission to be the leading resource for driving economic growth and provide education, advocacy and access to our members within and throughout each community in Hudson County, the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Business Administration Department at Saint Peter's University and the Ignite Institute since 2013 to bring a unique opportunity to our Members as well as undergraduate students at Saint Peter's, our Town & Gown Program. We are once again hosting this program in 2017.
Through this collaborative effort, Chamber Members who have a need or desire to engage in a planning project for their business, are paired with their own pro-bono team of consultants. Chamber Members represent the “Town” and Saint Peter’s the “Gown” in this partnership.
Consultants comprise a team of Saint Peter's seniors majoring in Business Administration and their professors. While they are enrolled in their cap-stone Business Administration Seminar during the spring semester (January through April), this team of five to six student-consultants work with our Members to complete one of the following types of projects:
Market Share Acquisition
Promotional Plan and/or Social Media Promotional Plan
International Business Plan
Public Relations and Publicity Plan
Any other business planning as needed

About the Business Administration Seminar
This senior-level course is aimed at exposing Saint Peter's students to real world challenges. Participants are expected to utilize their knowledge from the diverse fields of study (including finance, accounting, management, international business, marketing, and economics) to solve business problems. While the use of case studies and business simulation games are encouraged, the principal focus is to apply knowledge in the real world through mini-projects that involve small organizations. The course is therefore open only to students who have completed all major requirements.
The program will run during the Spring semester, mid-January to April. Once paired, the student-consultant teams and Chamber Member will be required to meet for an initial consultation. During this consultation, the Chamber Member and student-consultants will outline the scope of the project to be completed. They will also establish guidelines regarding how and when to continue meeting. At the end of the semester, each student team will present a completed plan to their Chamber Member partner at finals scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Each student team will be guided by a Saint Peter's faculty member and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to the best team projects. The Chamber is also considering prizes for those participating companies that demonstrate the highest level of engagement with their student-teams.
To apply, Chamber Members please click HERE and submit your application by Friday, November 18. All applicants are reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. If there is not space, an applicant may be placed on a waiting list. Please direct questions about this opportunity to our email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
