  • Government Affairs Action Agenda

    The Hudson County Chamber of Commerce is committed to working with policy makers at the municipal, state and federal levels to enhance the economic vitality of Hudson County and position the region as a center for business development, commerce, culture and innovation.

    The Chamber provides opportunities for more than 650 Members, including large corporation, small businesses and nonprofits, to be heard on important public policy issues such as pro-business legislation, infrastructure development, and job creation. We strive to engage our members directly in these discussions with policy makers in order that the voices of business leaders in the County are heard.

    Hudson County has a long and rich history as a center of commercial, industrial and residential growth, Today it is New Jersey's most ethically diverse and densely populated county. It is also a major transportation crossroad for the region and is home to one of the fastest growing cities in the State over the last two decades, Jersey City, The Chamber is committed to supporting government and regulatory policies that promote Hudson county's continued growth and enhance its competitive advantages.

    Issue Advocacy: The Chamber pro-actively advocates for policies that promote economic growth, job creation, investments in our local businesses and infrastructure development by focusing on the following:

    • Economic Growth: The Chamber will advocate for smart incentive programs and quality of life issues that ensure sustainable business development; as well as policies and initiatives that create best practices regarding public and private sector procurement programs in support of locally owned businesses.
    • Job Creation: The Chamber will support initiatives and  innovative programs that create high quality jobs in growth sectors of the economy, provide for strategic workforce development and enhance the County's entrepreneurial climate.
    • Infrastructure: The Chamber will support public and private initiatives that invest in the County's infrastructure in areas such as: transportation, energy, healthcare, water management, communication, education, and recreation, as well as cultural institutions. The Chamber's goal is to ensure policy makers take a long-term view of investments in the region's infrastructure. 
    • Competitiveness: The Chamber will advocate at all levels of government for tax and regulatory policies that support the County's competitiveness in the region and globally as an attractive place to do business.
    • Innovation: The Chamber will advocate at all levels of government for policies that support innovation and the development of an innovation economy in the region.  

    Government Affairs Committee

    The Chamber hosts quarterly Government Affairs Committee Meetings. All Members of the Chamber are invited to participate. Elected and public officials are invited as guest speakers to these meetings which are opportunities to discuss policy issues important to the business community.
